Dramatic Play -  Pet Shop

 

Halloween is now over, so the children voted on changing the dramatic play centre. Some of the suggestions were: Pet Shop, Hairdresser Shop, Ice Cream Shop, Dress-Up Shop, Fix-It Shop, Car Wash.

After voting both the morning and afternoon children decided the pet shop would be wonderful. The children are able to bring in one of their stuffed animals (not too large). So far we have a parrot puppet, a turtle, a dog, a cat, two bunnies). If your child decided to bring their stuffed animal for the centre please ensure your child's name is on the stuffed animal.

 

On Friday, the children made a sign for the pet shop and many of them created pictures of some pets.

 

If anyone has any small boxes from such as shoe boxes, or other small boxes that can be painted to represent cages for the animals.

During the week the children will create bags of food for the pets, price tags and leashes. The children are very excited about the new centre.

In the Dramatic Play Centre I follow the children's lead and when I see that it is not being used by the children then it is time for a change. Usually the centre can last two to three weeks and then it is time to change. If anyone has any other ideas for the pet shop donations are always welcomed.
